Writey's Table-Top Plans for 2024

Right, 2024 is rounding the corner as I'm writing this, so I figured it would be a good a time as any to let everyone know what the roadmap is for the coming year. I'll be making some table-top role-playing games and releasing these throughout the year, most likely in this order:

  1. Fate Stories — Exp. February 2024 — This is a hack of Fate Accelerated, which focuses more on the emergent and collaborative storytelling at the heart of Fate, cutting out a lot of other aspect (pun intended). We're getting rid of Approaches, Actions, Boosts, Turn Order, NPC stats, the GM needing to roll dice, and any Stunt that isn't the lovely "once per session" type. Instead, we'll introduce 3 different types of Aspects: Campaign, Scenario, Character. Players collectively shape their game with Campaign Aspects in session 1, shape their circumstances with Scenario Aspects, and Character Aspects work as they otherwise would. Anyway, I might've said too much already, but just now, this version of Fate focuses on story and collaborative story-telling first and foremost.
  2. FIRESIDE — Exp. April 2024 — FIRESIDE is a rules-lite, setting-neutral game that uses an extremely simplified version of the Blades in The Dark system (rolling a pool of six-sided dice, keeping the highest). The crux of this system is how light and simple it is - your character has Traits that you create, which dictate how many extraordinary things you can do (giving you extra dice as well) as well as how many obstacles/limits you face (taking dice away from you). Any intense scene (fights, car chases, interrogations, etc.) are all handled with a simple system that tracks your progress towards success! This will work as the cornerstone upon which many more games will be made, dubbed "Tales by the FIRESIDE" (TBTF) games!
  3. Bite The Mic!! (TBTF Game) — Exp. July 2024 — You're playing as vampires in a band, playing at a venue, which also happens to be your Lair. You have a magical Radio which tells you what is going to happen in the future. The era of Peace, which lasted for hundreds of years, is broken when The Silent Ones begin invading the city, killing off members of all vampire groups. With added pressure, every group is vying for your Radio as the threat of The Silent Ones grows each day. Fight off the vampires, keep your Radio safe, and survive the mysterious Silent Ones. Oh, have I mentioned that all vampire groups represent a different musical genre, from barbershop quarters, to church choirs, and rock-and-roll?! YEAH, LET'S BITE THIS MIC!
  4. 'Ti's Our Land  (TBTF Game) — Exp. September 2024 — You're playing as werewolves in a pack. FeverTech, the megacorporation, tried razing your forest, your home, to build malls, apartment complexes, and parking lots, but you've fought them off for months. Now, they've employed a paramilitary group to put a stop to this "wolf problem" they've got. It's you against them. Protect your home, protect nature, protect life.
  5. Saving Salem (TBTF Game) — Exp. November 2024 — You're playing as witches in a coven, living in the town of Salem, where you were born. You've long helped your fellow neighbours with your magicks, keeping your powers a secret from the public with ease. However, now that The Disease has spread throughout the land, and is threatening your precious home, you'll have to be more brazen if you wish to save Salem. But, beware... The Inquisition has arrived, establishing a new outpost in Salem. They're on the lookout for any magical creatures — "evil witches that want to eat our children and curse our lands for their amusement", as they put it. You must use your magic to save Salem, but one wrong step, and The Inquisition will be on your tail.

There might be more coming out, there might be less! It all depends on my schedule in the coming year. Also, a few notes about the upcoming games:

  • The PDF-only versions will be available on Itch. The Print-on-Demand versions will be available on DTRPG.
  • There will be Community Copies available.
  • If any project gets a lot more attention than the rest, its spot might be swapped with another (with the exception of Fate Stories, and FIRESIDE, which need to come out first).

Thank you! Happy Holidays, and a Great New Year!
