THE SHORT BIT
Wow that's tacky looking. Yass or Pass 2 is in the works! What will be added, updated, and made better?
Planned/For Sure Will Be Added
- Two hosts for double the belittling.
- More than one pose illustration for the hosts.
- More potential partners (with a few popular returnees).
- Full, written epilogues for when the contestant chooses a partner.
Stuff I'd Like To Add If Possible But I Make No Promises (AKA: SILTAIPBIMNP. This game is built entirely by me, with minimal to no help from anyone else, so I'm keeping my scope reasonable)
- First "dates" with the potential partners. (I use the term dates extremely loosely for some of these partners)
- Variable contestant appearance (I'd like if you could choose what your contestant looks like, at least to some degree)
- Ä̵͜ ̵̟̎h̸͎̃ï̴̜d̶̲̅d̶̦͋ě̴͓n̴̄͜ ̵̞̋e̷͌ͅn̵̼͐ḏ̷̌ỉ̸͚n̴̺̾g̵̠͛!̸͚͛
- Voice Stings (Look, the original voice acting was entirely to figure out how to code sounds and timing, and was done by me and my extremely supportive friends, but I know Eros gave you all confusing emotions so I'd like to include it again)
- Music that isn't from Kevin Macleod (No disrespect to the King of Royalty Free, but having something that isn't immediately recognized from being on 100,000,000 Youtube videos would be nice)
- Sound effects that aren't me just making noises into a microphone (Yeah, a lot of the sounds were just me making noises and then fiddling with them in Audacity)
THE LONG BIT
Yes, after...like...a year of dead silence during which a lot of stuff happened that we don't need to talk about, I've been summoned returned of my own free will. Yass or Pass was weirdly popular for my first public foray into games. It was a joke game mostly, designed to help me learn Renpy and game flow, try my claws totally human hands to see if I actually enjoyed it.
And I did! Quite a lot actually. And I didn't really pay attention to the game after that, I was happy to get it done, and went back to focusing on my comics and other art projects. Then, I started getting emails about new followers on Itch.io. And I was like "Huh. A couple mortals people must like my silly game."
And then I got more. And more. And I was like "....this is unusual for an account that hasn't been active in a year or so." and logged back in and wowsers, that's a lot of downloads for a silly game. And honestly, I enjoyed making the game and coming up with the potential partners and jokes and also insulting the contestant so much that I started feeling like maybe I should make some more games. But what to return with? What would be a good way to get back into coding, and drawing assets, and writing? Well, Yass or Pass started this nonsense, so it's only fair that I do another one. Why? Because I want to, honestly, I don't like working on stuff if I don't feel some pull to it, if I don't think I'll enjoy it. YoP was a lot of fun, and part of that fun was how I didn't take it seriously. Like at all. But I also loved hearing my friends laugh really hard when I'd send them the stupid jokes I'd come up with. I have a habit of going WAY too hard on my projects, and getting in over my skull human head. So to ease myself in, Yass or Pass 2 will be my next game project released. Am I working on/planning other video game projects as well?
We can talk about that another day.
ANSWERS TO SOME POTENTIAL QUESTIONS
Q: Will it be free like the first one?
A: I don't know yet. I'm a single individual working on this and I do want to keep making free games whenever possible. But charging for a game helps me work on my art by letting me continue to survive in your reality our society. If I charge for the game, it would need to be substantial enough that I personally feel like paying money for it would be worth it. If I can't justify that on my end, it'll be a free release. However, it will be available to all paid Patreon tiers, regardless of cost.
Q: How long will it take to develop?
A: It's currently my main project, but I'm also working on several other projects right now. Everything, from coding, writing, creating art assets, UI assets, even sound design, is handled entirely by me. At the moment, dedicating myself full time to this isn't financially feasible, and that doesn't seem likely to change in the near future. So I don't have a time frame for how long it'll take or when to expect the final product. Ideally before the end of the year, but I make no promises. The more money I get from supporters, the more time and resources I can devote to these projects.
Q: I would like to support you and help with development!
A: I appreciate it! If you want to help, the best way is to join my cult Patreon and throw money at me. The more money I have, the more time I can dedicate to my artistic endeavors. You also get some perks from joining like free art, and there's other things planned for the future. If you can't or don't want to financially support me, tell other people about my game, or just join the free tier of my Patreon, so I know there's interest.
Q: Where can I follow you for updates and information on this and other projects?
A: The best way to keep up to date would be to follow me on Patreon for free. That's where I'll be doing most of my updates and logs and such. I'll also try and post updates here, but the Patreon would be the most reliable source of up to date information on anything I'm working on.
Q: PLEASE let us choose Eros as a potential partner!
A: Yeah, that's understandable.
Q: I hated Yass or Pass, it sucked and you shouldn't make a second one.
A: Cool. Still gonna make it though.
