BRUTAL has arrived!
Our third original RPG, BRUTAL is the most... well... brutal yet. It is full of grit and a Punk ethos that elevates authenticity, the value of personhood, and collaboration instead of authoritarianism.
A lot of times, tabletop RPG's are run on authoritarian systems of hierarchy. BRUTAL is not. In BRUTAL, players are lead by another character, a guide, a character, equally fragile and capable of dying, who is trying to get them to a destination. We do recognize though that players who have played BRUTAL, or similar RPG's, make ideal communal leaders and guides on the journey, so you don't have to fly blindly either. But the BRTUAL ferryman is not in control and is not your master, every player is expected to contribute to the story, describe what they are discovering as they make moves, and bring encounters to the table. In BRUTAL, in one sense, everyone is the GM.
BRUTAL is also meant to elevate personhood and dignity. In BRUTAL, every character's life is precious and fragile; perma-death awaits around every corner, and players have to be careful, wise, and collaborative in order to survive their journey. Characters in BRUTAL are not interchangeable, they are unique and cannot be replaced. This is the part of BRUTAL we are most proud of - every character's life matters, their dignity is important, and scarred, wounded, or damaged, every character is still an equal part of the adventure; never disposable and never replaceable.
We hope you all enjoy BRUTAL, our kinda scary but ultimately very enjoyable tabletop RPG. Hats off to Mr. C.R. Twombly who contributed the material; and to Rothbard & Gazpus for handing down the Almanac System that BRUTAL is based in.
