Hello everyone!
Today, I'm thrilled to share a pretty exciting update on my creative endeavors. As some of you may know, I've been working on a hack called Complex34, built on the 24XX framework. I've got to say, I'm extremely pleased with how it's turned out. But something interesting has happened—Complex34 has essentially taken over my thoughts, leaving me no room to think about anything else.
In light of this newfound passion, I made the tough decision to hit pause on my other ongoing projects. Why? Because there's something almost magical that I can't seem to shake off about Complex34. The concept is so captivating that I've decided to experiment with giving it a "Mark of the Odd" treatment. If you're wondering why that feels like a wild thought, let me explain.
Here's the kicker: Complex34 already has some striking similarities with Into the Odd. It's like I've taken Into the Odd and ported it over to a 24XX chassis. Now, you might be thinking, "Well, if you add a 'Mark of the Odd' touch to it, won't it just become an Into the Odd clone?" And you're not wrong. It's an interesting and rather surreal dilemma I find myself in. But hey, I can't help myself. The allure is too strong to resist.
Given this conundrum, my goal is to ensure that this new version stands out on its own. How? I'm focusing on giving it a distinct look and feel. The aesthetics and tone will be tailored to set it apart, and that's just the beginning. I'm also mulling over some rule expansions that could offer a fresh twist to the gameplay.
One area that I'm particularly excited to explore is expanding "Domain play." The core game will still be there, but I'm thinking of adding Guild play that could change the way you interact with the game world. The idea here is to create a unique experience that offers something new, even for those familiar with Into the Odd or 24XX.
We'll see where this journey takes me. For now, the plan is to dive head-first into this project and see where it leads. Yes, it's a bit of a gamble, but sometimes, you've just got to follow where your creativity takes you.
So stay tuned, as I'm incredibly excited to share updates on this project in the coming weeks. Who knows? This might turn out to be something extraordinary—or at least extraordinarily odd!
