Getting Players for My Game

Making video games as a technical skill seems to be easy, at least for me. Making them as an art or even as a business seems to be quite difficult. It is easy to come up with game ideas and to build a working prototype or even a complete project. However getting the game infront of people seems to be an issue. Even if it is to get people to just test out a game idea.

Normally when I make a game I show it to my friends and ask for their opinion. Most of them seem to like it. Then I ask other people to try it out and the feedback seems to be the same. However, the moment I place the game on the Internet it gets little to no attention. But the little attention I do get suggest the game is actually fun to play.

I just want to find an effetive way of getting people online to play my game and give me feedback and hopefully buy the full game when it’s ready for release. But I don’t know or understand how to do that. Any advice?
