Realized I completely forgot to keep the devblog updated on itch--sorry about that! You can check out the other entries here--I'll be updating the backlog soon.
July was a bit busy, mostly from me working on unrelated craft projects (you know, for fun) and so I spent a few weeks working on more UI assets, namely character portraits. I also worked on making some UI mockups for the dialogue system for each route:
Since each route has a unique story/gameplay approach/etc, my reasoning is that sure, they would see and interact with the world in a different way. I still try to keep the UI as consistent as possible, so the one that’s the most different is Rebel’s, since it requires decision inputs and branching dialogue.
Sepsis’ and Barrett’s on the other hand are fairly straightforward, and only Barrett’s requires some kind of other input during a conversation.
I also started working on some NPC portraits for Barrett’s route. Hers is the route with the most NPCs, so the portraits will just be static for now to save on time. I am enjoying coming up with a variety of NPCs that add more texture to the world:
That’s all for now–I’ll be back at the start of September with more updates. I’ll continue working away at UI mockups and portraits and see where the dialogue system is at then. I’m still dealing with unemployment so that’s still something else hanging over my head, but hoping August will be a bit better. Thanks for reading!
