Kataena - asymmetrical multiplayer RTS and "tower" defense

In 2556, humans started expanding and colonizing planets. The life on Earth was not possible anymore with few exceptions in remote places due to exhaustion of resources. This bad habit never changed over the course of the centuries and from the Earth on, every couple of centuries, new planets had to be colonized to keep human beings alive. 
One of these planets was Katæna: 10 times bigger than the Earth with a similar biosphere, it had the possibility to host and sustain billions of humans for generations. But human race nature never changes, and in less than two centuries the human created three factions fighting with each other to dominate the planet, with an already written ending: nobody survived and the planet was soon forgotten.
Today Katæna would just be dead bodies and the remains of civilization, if not for the alien Crystal that landed on the planet after there was no human alive.  This Crystal changed completely the geography of the planet with its impact and its energy gave back life to the wandering souls of the humans of Katæna, bringing with them an infinite hunger for power, and the irresistible urge of controlling the Crystal. 
The three factions of the past were reformed by the bodiless souls, new families built upon old hatred and a new war, the infinite war for the Crystal.


In 2020, while we were forced home and without a clear timeline to get back to "normal" life, Fabio decided to work on a dream of his, an asymmetric multiplayer game with a strong competitive component. With the help of several friends, Katæna took its first steps and became more than just an idea. 

By putting together Real Time Strategy Mechanics and Tower Defense-style action, Katæna will be a free-to-play multiplayer game that is intended for quick and intense sessions. The game will feature a rich and deep lore, that one day will be the story of a single-player campaign.

We are now a team of people working together to bring Katæna to life: even if we are not able to work on the demo full time, we are building a team to make the game and make it available for everybody.
