What happened over the past month & concerning monetary motivation for future projects.

I should explain for the month gap of time in case anyone is curious. My development computer started being more sketch than ever and eventually stopped booting the main drive. The drive is dead, but I back up all my projects after each update so the only problem was having to get a new computer. It had many other problems including taking up too much space, the fans being noisy and somehow poor grounding on the motherboard despite messing with it, so I felt it worth the 'upgrade'. I soon after got a new job and with my first paycheck I got a cheap mini PC as a replacement. It's definitely slower, but much smaller, quieter and more reliable, so I am very happy with it. Typing from it right now.

These programs I host on Itch aren't doing much for me, I'll be honest. For the thousands of hours I pour into them, what do I get? Less than a hundred dollars and small praise is what. All while the very computer I programmed it all on expires and my earnings only cover half of the new slow computer.

I'm getting flashbacks to when I did pizza delivery. My base pay was cut because the state I was in allowed for tips to cover the difference and often they didn't make up for it. All the while what I did earn was going right back into repairing my car that I had to provide to do the deliveries in. It was borderline a scam. 'What am I getting out of this?' I would keep asking myself, knowing I was barely scraping by until I couldn't take it anymore and dared to quit. It was a good decision.

Don't worry, projects that were already free will remain so. I'll be finishing what I started as usual, each of my programs needs a bit more refinement after all. However, I won't be releasing any more free games or programs outside of fan games that can't be released commercially. Unless in the very improbable chance that I earn enough that I feel more charitable with my projects, that won't change.
