We're Back... Kinda.

That's right folks, Empire Grower Studios is back. We're currently working on some HTML/JScript browser based games as well as some new concepts in Godot Engine. We're also working on releasing a Game Master's Guide, Player's Handbook, and some setting books for a new Table Top gaming system that we're developing. The setting of the as-yet unnamed gaming system is loosely based on Victorian/Turn of the Century time, when the industrialization of the world was in full swing, and the depredations of the Industrial Barons were being felt by workers in every corner of the land.

This is the time of massive coal-fired factories, many with their own railroads; ocean liners crossing the Atlantic or passenger trains crossing the US in 7 to 10 days; and the build-up to the first world war. Tensions are running high around the globe, and to make matters worse, the timeline of powered and lighter-than-air flight has been moved forward ever so slightly. Steampunk is a thriving industrial concept and a religion has sprung up around the concept of combining people and steampunk to produce individuals with superior abilities.

Humanity... doesn't exist. The people of this realm and time are all anthropomorphic animal/human hybrids. There are five distinct races (wolves, foxes, bears, large cats, and predatory birds), each with their own subsets of geographically diverse members. There will be seven starter classes, re-classing, remorting, and rebirth options to advance beyond your basic class. In addition to the common Race/Class combination, the game will include advantages and weaknesses, religion, and more.

The eventual plan is to bring game setting to life on Windows, Linux, and Apple, but we've been struggling to keep up with the constant changes to game engines. Seriously. I spent two years trying to code one thing in Unity2D only to have Unity change the engine every two to three weeks, and constantly deprecate entire sections of code as I was learning them according to Unity's official documentation. It wasn't sustainable. It may come out at a much later date as a browser based service for connecting multiple players around the world, like Roll20, or it may remain available for TT only, until someone else picks up the IP and turns it into an online gaming platform.

In the meantime, we are fundraising to keep the lights on and keep people and pets fed. Please contribute to our GoFundMe campaign, if you have the ability to do so.
