Bi-Weekly Report (1/16-1/23)

Note: I started doing bi-weekly reports!! I have three right now, so I will be posting them all at once!

What I did these two weeks (1/16-1/23):

  • Got my first editing commission!
  • Went to VN Conference, a conference on the development of visual novels
  • Gained 40 participants for my first game jam, Oji Jam
  • Wrote over 10k words (fanfics, outlines, scripts, etc)
  • Went to the hospital for some chest pain, still recovering :c
  • Tried to relax
  • Applied to over 5 jobs
  • Received lots of support and auditions for Project Avis

General Thoughts:

I’ve been having a lot of trouble recently about my place in the game world and what it means to be a writer and narrative designer. I’ll make a comprehensive article on this later, but it’s filled with a lot of doubt and insecurities. Thankfully, I’m surrounded by wonderful friends and my girlfriend who give me support. Going to conferences and listening to other devs has also helped. It’s a bit overwhelming, but learning all this information will definitely help in the future.

It feels like there’s a lot of uncertainty in my life right now. I was told there was two types of stress: good stress and bad stress. Good stress is when you’re stressed, but it’s when you’re doing something you love or something that makes you happy. That’s how I feel about applying to jobs and find commissions, as well as finishing deadlines. I am stressed but I am happy doing what I love. The uncertainty comes from if this is a sustainable lifestyle or not. Reality hasn’t quite hit me yet,

Goals (1/30-2/13):

  • Get at least 2 people signed up for the newsletter
  • Advertise Oji Jam more
  • Work on posting more writings
  • Start on Project Avis writings
  • Write a detailed plan for commercial otome game
  • Apply to writing jobs
