Overall this first leg of development didn't have many actual programming issues, I did get sick partway through which through a wrench in my workflow. However the main issue that I had found was simply getting the attack montage to play when a character attacked.
This I later realized and fixed that it was a simple mistake of tying the wrong skeleton to the character model causing it to not know what to do. Once the right character skeleton was tied the animations played flawlessly. I wish I could say this was a quick fix but I did take about 30 minutes to figure that out as I had tried debugging the rest of the code that was there but now the user can see the attack actually cause the character to animate.
