Heya! I've been around, kind of hovering, and just watching. I have participated in a few game jams and even posted some of my own things. I am not very social, and I think because of that I don't really find teams easily, I also suck at marketing myself. I don't know how to explain it - but I know I am not alone in this boat.
But this year I am making a new years resolution - revolution - reservation - uh yeah that thing to make a promise for the new year. I want to break out of my bubble and really start trying. I've given up a lot, and I need to give up on giving up. Saying it and doing it is different though, so this year I am writing down a plan to actually follow instead of winging it. That plan is: I want to make a series of asset packs. Weapons, Clutter, Furniture, Buildings, etc. I also plan on not overworking myself on this so I don't burn out, and try to quit again. - I tend to get hyper-focused on things.
I am currently working on a 15-piece fantasy weapon pack that I am preparing to release around the new year.
I have 10 objects created already. I might make future plans to make a modern low poly weapon pack, and a sci-fi weapon pack too. We will see where that takes us. My current pack should be done in a few days, so probably just in time for the new year. I have a few speed modeling videos planned to go with it - though I am working on editing those. My video editing skills are - the bare minimum to say the least. I will do my best nonetheless.
I am also planning on making clutter packs for different genres such as Fantasy, Modern, Sci-Fi, and either if it gets popular enough - or I eventually get to it, a post apocalyptic pack. You can never have too much clutter in your games, right?
The packs I plan on having anywhere from 20 to 30 items, maybe more. I plan on making trash objects, books, and pencils - so the item amount could very well reach over 30 objects, to be honest.
I'm not sure what else to plan to make - but I enjoy making low poly items. I think it was about a year ago I dumped out my toy box of all my other models and shared it with everyone.
Unfortunately this time there won't be free - all my other free stuff is staying free, and up for grabs, but everything newer I'll be putting prices on. The past few years have been hard - and I no longer can just casually make things as a hobby. I won't go into details - you can probably just guess anyways.
I recently released a mixed texture pack - it's just textures I've made. I'm never happy with any textures, to be honest - so I just keep making more.
I also hope to be able to participate in some game jams next year and actually finish one of the games.
Anyways I will be trying to make posts, upload videos, and learn how to market better. I know I have to be persistent - but I wouldn't mind hearing any advice on I guess how to get attention basically. - I feel like everywhere everyone is screaming look at me. - That'll be a separate thing.
I am not sure how to end this, so I'll just leave it as is before I ramble for too much longer. Thank you for reading!
I'll leave a sneak peek at my weapons package too.
