2022 Wrap Up

Happy Holidays everyone~! This post will probably be a bit ramble-y but that's ok. I wanted to do a little thing to wrap up the year since there most likely won't be any devlogs incoming until after the new year has started.

This has been A Year, that's for sure. I started really buckling down in the beginning months to get stuff for Demon's Fate done and surprised myself with how quickly I was able to get the first part of that done and put out there. It was a wild ride, going in with basically zero knowledge on how to code anything and having to search for answers to the simplest questions. And now I'm pretty confident in the basics at least and working on trying new things out and trying my hand at breaking away from the template codes I've scrounged together.

I joined my very first jam this year as well! Despite having only recently finished the first part for Demon's Fate, I decided to give Phantasia Jam a go and see if I could whip a little something up under a deadline. (for those who don't know: I am notoriously AWFUL with deadlines, they're so stressful and usually I end up waiting until last minute and rushing things lol) But I had a lot of fun with doing that and now I have a mini demo for Noctilim made, which is fun because that was the game I had wanted to do first originally and the one I started learning renpy with back in 2021. However I'd hit a wall in regards to how I wanted the story to go so I scrapped everything I had for it. So picking that back up was nice to be able to do and to be able to go into that with a fresh mindset and new ideas was a lot of fun.

Now I wanna talk about the people side of this year. I definitely wouldn't have been able to get to where I'm at currently without the help of those in the dev community. So I'm especially grateful for the people who I've met throughout this year and how we've helped each other out and hyped each other up. Everyone I've spoken with is just so incredible and sweet and I feel really lucky to be able to be a part of the community even if sometimes the Impostor Syndrome is massive lol

I don't really know what else to say about this year... It feels like there was a lot of stuff but I just keep wanting to thank all of you for all the help and attention you've given to my projects. Thank you so much to those of you who have downloaded either (or both!) of them. I hope you've enjoyed them if you played or will enjoy when you get around to it.

I'm hoping to make way more progress next year in regards to getting the second part of Demon's Fate out. Since I now have the game ready and only need to focus on the writing/coding for now (art assets will always come last since those take forever even if I start them while I'm writing), I'll try to get all 4 of the main routes finished and released. Trying not to give myself too many goals that I end up getting overwhelmed with them, but I think having the routes finished is a good goal to start with.

I think this is gonna be the end of this post hehe again, thank you everyone, happy holidays and I hope your year ends nicely and your new year starts off on the right foot! <3
