Small update on Briarheart & other projects

hey there, folks!

hope y'all are doing well. development for briarheart is going veeeeeeery slowly, for many reasons. the main one is work kicking my ass. i work two jobs at the moment, so, you know, no energy/time to do anything when i'm done with them for the day. i don't see it changing any time soon so my current plan is (hopefully) get a promotion early next year and quit my second job, which would free my nights, give me more time to rest & more energy to work on my projects (which of course includes briarheart). if i dont get said promotion... well, we will get there when we get there, i guess.

another reason is that i like to work on multiple projects at the same time. i wrote 15k words for a regular, linear novel during nanowrimo for example (more about it on my writing blog here), and right now i'm debating joining a visual novel jam to work on a little idea i've got a for a small vn. i'm pretty tempted to do this because my dream is to get briarheart out of twine and into godot, which i like waaaaaaaaay more, and i'd be able to reuse a lot of stuff i'd build for the vn for briarheart if i succeeded. but again, no time bc of my two jobs, so we will see how that goes.

third reason is that i still don't have my own pc/laptop. mine died months ago and i've been using my 1st job's laptop since then. it's a good laptop, but it has no storage to speak of and of course no graphics card or anything of the sort. my job is okay with me using this laptop to play games and store my own stuff, but only as long as it doesn't impact the actual stuff they gave it to me for and sadly that has started happening (had to delete SO much stuff i had because there simply isn't any space left). i've been saving for a new pc for months (since before my old laptop died for good) and i'm now able to starting buying a few parts thanks to the prices FINALLY dropping. i still a bit off, though. i need ~$150 to buy all the parts i need.

i set a goal in my ko-fi (of $165 because of paypal international transfer fees). if you've enjoyed briarheart or the hanging heart and can help, i'd appreciate it A LOT.  i don't live in the US so the dollar is worth a lot here, and a couple bucks go a long way.

if i don't hit this goal i will just need to save for a few more months (less if i get that promotion. fingers crossed!).  here is my ko-fi if you can help. you can also donate directly through briarheart's or the hanging heart's game pages by clicking the "support this game" button.

my plan was to release the full first chapter of briarheart before the end of the year, but that isn't happening, sadly. depending on how buying this new pc goes + getting that promotion/raise, things might be easier for me in january/february.

just to be clear, this chapter is getting released early next year even if it all goes wrong. it's just that if things go right it will probably come earlier/easier xD

in any case, thanks again for the support, comments and ratings <3 even if i'm not able to work on briarheart (or my dream port of the hanging heart to godot) still getting activity on these two little games makes my day every time it happens. hope to see you guys soon and stay well <3
