After the release of Field Guide to Yokai, I've been focusing mainly on my illustration gigs and projects. As you may know from the last post, a couple of weeks ago I launched a Patreon to release affordable art aimed at the TTRPG community. [Any help boosting my numbers there or advice about how to do it would be very welcome]. It's always harder for me to write than to draw, especially when I don't do it in my native language, and it's not easy to avoid procrastination. So this is me trying to fight it! Somehow, it feels like an obligation to finish projects if I've already talked about them in public.
On the Yokai Hunters Society front, I got plenty of ideas and stuff I would like to do next year. The most imminent should be already out there, but the test print got stuck in some airport... As soon as I receive it, I will release it if no major changes have to be made, so I won't talk so much about it. I will just say it's not totally new, but pretty cool. I also got a scenario called Yuki (Snow) almost done. My idea was to publish it this year, but I don't think I will have enough time to finish it. I'm aiming for February / March (2023).
Not Yokai related, the project I got almost ready to go it's an adventure based on an old legend from my hometown (Salamanca, Spain). This was intended to be published during a Jam a long long time ago, but, you know... It includes a super-extremely-light system with cards and D10s involved, but it's compatible with any OSR/NSR system. I just need to write the last encounter, which is not easy... You'll probably understand when it's out. The art and layout are basically done, so this one will be the first one to see the light of day.
Last but not least, I've been working on a solo RPG game based on Wretched & Alone and inspired by all those futuristic and hyperviolent sports from video games, comics, and movies that became so popular during the 80s and 90s: Motorball, Speedball, Rollerball, Triad, Futuresports, Soccer Brawl and the like. I thought it will be a fun little project, but it's taking more time than expected. Isn't it always like that?
That's all for now!
If you find anything of this exciting or interesting and want to see these projects done faster, the best way to support me right now is my Patreon.
Cheers,
Chema
