Portrait in a Room of Mirrors

Solovember Day 19 - Portrait in a Room of Mirrors by S. Pines

This is a game about looking inward as you see reflections of 12 mirrors. You go through 12 memories, one for each mirror, and decide which one best reflects you.

This game doesn’t use any randomizers, instead you are given a brief description of the mirror’s frame and what sort of image is depicted in it along with how you feel about the memory.

For example there’s a mirror with a driftwood and seaweed frame and you see yourself underwater. In this memory you are submerged and tells you there is a sense of suspension and drifting.

After you’ve completed all 12 mirrors you choose which one best reflects you and watch as the others fade, knowing that the lasting mirror will one day be gone too.

The game suggests that this can be played autobiographically, but I chose to make up a character instead since I’m sharing this with everyone on the internet. I think this game works really well for either character creation, or for further developing a character.

I played as a king contemplating his reign with a tumultuous relationship with his family and a calling to explore the north.

The mirrors reflect back each a different variation of your face, but only one image will remain true.
