The 12 types of Playdate players

The 12 types of Playdate players - which one(s) are you?

1) Non-Crankers

Have used a game controller before but never a crank.  Prefer to stick to what they know and play games that don't use it.

2) Super-Crankers

Just spin the crank around as fast as possible, whatever is going on in game and love to do it.  Wheeeeeeee !!!!!

3) Flickers

Like Harry Potter casting a spell, this group jerk the crank around at intervals of 180 degrees instantly, with a flick of the wrist.  Makes the onlooking playdate owner nervous about their warranty.

4) Lefties

I hope you've been inclusive and either have an inverted mode, alternative controls or varied difficulty.

5) Ambidextrous

Like to rub their stomach and pat their head and vice versa for fun.  In the minority of people who enjoy complex multi-input controls and fast switching between them.

6) Precision-crankers

Place your face right up to the screen and stick your tongue out.  These players move the crank so slowly and considered that it barely registers, like they are safe crackers or heart surgeons.

7) Retro players

If a game reminds them of, or is a direct clone of a game made before 1998 they are happy, otherwise meh!

8) Advanced gamers

Challenging games only.  "Don't give me a tutorial or extra lives, I need to prove myself.  The playdate catalog has leaderboards for a reason.  Also where's my dark souls port?"

9) Casuals

Clicker, idle or mobile style games FTW.  Give them a regular endorphin hit reward and they are happy.

10) Tactiles

Playdate is just a fidget spinner toy.  Happy by just touching an input and something happening on screen (if they are even watching the screen).

11) Fashionistas

Roguelike / deck building / Balatro, give me a version of whatever the current trend is on steam.

12) Easily pleased

Treat the playdate like a game & watch, have only sideloaded root bear and don't need / want anything else.
