The roof managed to burn down about 1/3. But the beams burned down, so the whole thing will have to be reconstructed. The chimney, the roof, the boiler. It's about -5 C outside now and it will be for a long time (about 3 months).

02.05.2026 UPDATE

So, good news. The craftsman started working, replaced the roof trusses, the sheet metal, bricked up the boiler door... Lots of work, we still have to get an inspection and then we can test the water filling. It has to be done, because in about 10 days it will be -10° again and the water would freeze = the heating would burst and that would be a disaster. I'm doing what I can! 🛠️

02.18.2026 UPDATE

Dear friends, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thanks to your generosity, the entire chimney, which was at risk of collapsing onto the roof, has been rebuilt. Work on the boiler is also underway. The roof has been temporarily repaired so it no longer leaks and the apartment is protected. Once the weather improves, we’ll be able to start a more thorough reconstruction.
