Fantastic work, and great job on all the dialogue, really elevated the whole thing. I was also impressed by the actual gameplay bits (like the game of tag) - could maybe have done something similar with the murderer? (like he runs away if you get too far from him or something like that). Biggest UX issue I encountered was maybe that you have to press enter to further the dialogue but also enter to start a new dialogue, so I kept restarting talks (with the ones you can speak to multiple times, like the policeman), which was a little silly, but not really game-stopping or changing :)

Great work and great use of assets too!

Very cool and funny and the feature mini game of tag is very cool! But the sprite of the player is tremble when walking.

Very pretty and follower mechanic is fun.

Very cute game, enjoyed exploring around. There are a few collision and z indexing issues around but otherwise enjoyed it.

Excellent game!! I'm guessing the the name of the game is an omage to the SNES classic Earthbound or maybe i'm wrong. I definitely has a similar vibe. The visual syle of assets you chose go great with your game

This is great, I played an early version and it wasn't done but it was still get. The atmosphere and sound effects are nice and it's overall a great game.

Really cute- reminds me of old pokemon games and running around trying to find all the secrets.

Very cool submission! Big map, funny dialogue, some kids robbed me of all my money, but in the end I found 1 more coin to take home with me!

Impressive submission. You managed to make quite a lot of game in not a lot of time!

Large map (especially for a 48hr jam). Quite a lot of content in terms of dialogue and questing.

Very good use of the assets provided. Lots of variety. Fits the them perfectly too.

For improvements, I'd suggest increasing the walk speed a bit as it does take some time to move from one side of the map to another. Also, I'd suggest making the size of the game window smaller in future games. I'm playing this on a laptop and found I could not see all of the game screen without scrolling up and down.

Great submission. You did a very a good job!

Thanks a lot, that is really useful feedback! A bit unrelated, I'm curious: would you say a minimap would help or detract from this game?

Submitted(+1)

I think a minimap would be a good idea, especially for finding npcs and stuff. The map is big enough to warrant one. Only thing to consider there is how much you show; do you show items, less important npcs, etc.

You could alternatively a map you pull up (say press [TAB]) that shows where you've visited and what was there. Could also have a pointer appear in the game when you are near a key NPC. Might be a pain to implement is the only thing.

Choosing any/all of the above would add to your game I think.

Hope this helps. Glad you found my feedback useful!
