A lot of interesting ideas in this one! ๐Ÿ‘

You shoot using your own bricks so when you see an enemy, you always have to think "Is killing him worth it? Or should I just run past him?" If you kill him first try great, you get 1 ammo so you didn't win anything but didn't lose anything either, if you miss a shot though, you've basically lost a life.

Added to that, the mechanism of moving blocks around you with the left click is pretty interesting. Will you protect one side of the bricks and risk having the main brick exposed in another spot? Or will you just stay grouped together the whole run? ๐Ÿค”

A great balancing act with great visuals! Great job! ๐Ÿ˜

yeah I tried to put in some thought as to risk vs reward stuff, I'm glad some of that came through.  Thanks for playing and taking the time to comment!

Oh my god, that was just pure arcade bliss. The twist at the beginning was done extremely well, and the game is so addicting that I was surprised this had so few votes. The graphics are awesome, and I really love the gameplay idea, and the execution is really satisfying. The control explanation could be better, but I can hardly critique it as it's so damn fun.

There is so much potential in this work that I really want to see it explored more. One of the hidden gems of this jam, for sure.

Developer(+1)

lol I appreciate it!  Yeah I agree on the explanation stuff, if I did it again I would try to make that a ton more obvious, good learning experience.  Thanks a ton for playing it and taking the time to comment

Holy !!

I did NOT expect this to be this fun.

This was actually so good, i kinda want more :D

yeah, you know im actually gonna replay it again after i finish writing this comment lol, now that i know exactly how to play

the "protect your core at all costs" element is so cool, it felt really urgent without becoming overwhelming. And then i found out that with right click you can shoot a shield block towards the enemies like woah

wow

literally my only issue is that when i found a field of floating enemy balls i thought they're collectible shield blocks because they are so similar in color and size, just a difference in shape, so i burned a bunch of my shield down but its no biggie because after that i immediately learned to tell them apart

edit:
i played it again and ohh, i now realized that you can shift the shield around you by dragging the mouse.
Dam, introducing game mechanics to players is rly a must because thats so cool and i didnt know about it, also idk how i didn't die at all during my first time lol

Developer

I really appreciate you taking the time to leave all that feedback lol.  I do agree with you that the enemy balls are too similar to the shield cubes, they were easier to differentiate before I added the post processing stuff and I think at that point I was too tired and used to it to notice lol.  And yeah after watching a few people play there are things I would definitely strive to make more obvious, the player mechanics being one of them.  But yeah, thanks a ton for the compliments, and for playing!

nice menu and love the art and music.

the gameplay is awesome just the fact that thatgoing forward makes you go diagonally it's kind of hard to get ahold of this.

at first i thought it was off topic but really great suprise.

it deserves to be one of the 10 best games of the jam

Developer(+1)

wow thanks for that!  and yeah the diagonal movement can be a little funky at first,  if it were a longer term project I'd probably have changed it but you live the with decisions you make early in these kinds of jams i guess lol

Thanks for playing and taking the time to comment!

Nice take on this classic game ! I liked the idea of shooting some of your defence bricks against the paddles :p. Congratulation to the entire team !

Developer(+1)

The team on this one is just me lol.  Wanted to challenge myself and do it solo this year.  Thanks for the compliment!
