INTRODUCTION:

What would you do if you had one week to make an RPG? Would you go the traditional route, making a dungeon crawler? Would you make a roguelike? A slot machine? A puzzle game? Really, we all have different responses to that question. Now, what's your response?

This jam is intended for the big RPG fans out there. This is more or less a fun way to see what people can make with Twine. If you are interested in adding your own game to this jam, go on ahead! This jam will start on the 20th and end on the 27th, giving you exactly one week to design your very own RPG. Eat your heart out, nerds.

WHAT MAKES AN RPG?:

A role-playing game (RPG) is a game in which each participant assumes the role of a character, generally in a fantasy or science fiction setting, that can interact within the game's imaginary world.

This definition is very loose, so just try and gather a bit of inspiration from older successful RPGs, virtual and physical.

GUIDELINES:

  1. All games must be made in Twine. Games made in other engines will be disqualified.*
  2. Adult games are encouraged, but please avoid direct sexual content.
  3. Content that is intended to offend may be disqualified. This rule is a pretty loose one, and I will personally message you and make sure of the game's intent before passing judgement.
  4. This jam will be partially judged on innovation, which means you can be disqualified for plagiarizing content from others. This means no pre-made inventories, combat scenes, towns, currency systems, random loot generators, etc.
  5. Entries may be as traditional or non-traditional as you like. However, your game must still be an RPG at the end of the day.
  6. No mudslinging. Like, at all.
  7. Be cool to others. I don't think I need to elaborate on what this means.
  8. Collaboration is encouraged.

If you love RPGs, can write in Twine, and want to get your name out there, this is your chance. Starting January 20th, submissions will open. Submissions will close on the 27th. Voting will end on the 2nd of February.
